School Leadership
PRINCIPAL, DR. ANGELA M. KILLENS

I am looking forward to leading the collaborative work with the teachers and staff down our chosen paths to improve student achievement at Baldwin. We will not rest on our laurels, but constantly work to ensure that each child shows improvement and mastery. This is not possible without the support of our parents and families. The parents’ relationship with their children is a key component to us moving the academic needle. Parents, you have the “inside track” on your children and your knowledge of your children, paired with our educational background, is the best way to ensure that our students have a premiere public school education.
Baldwin is an icon in the district and Los Angeles. It is my intent that we maintain its persona of excellence and are innovative in other ways so that we set ourselves apart from other academic experiences. I do not have lofty goals and make no promises, except to be fully dedicated to the Baldwin Hills community by being trustworthy, resourceful, collaborative and accessible. I am confident that you will afford me the same. I am excited to meet all of the beautiful and handsome faces of our scholars. I am eager to meet the teachers and staff who are dedicated to our scholars. I look forward to connecting with the parents whose children afford us the opportunity to work in this critical field.
Just a little about me: I am happily married, have a grown bonus son, and a naughty dog named Mamba. I love to sing, entertain family and friends, travel and shop, and when I bake for you, that means you’re pretty special to me. I’m a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. One of my professional mantras is, “Work hard and play hard.” I’m not a coffee drinker, but I love lattes from Starbucks, especially during the holiday season. Until we meet in person, know that my sleeves are rolled up and ready to lead Baldwin Hills Pilot and High Ability Gifted Magnet to its next phase of excellence.
In service,
Dr. Angela M. Killens
VICE PRINCIPAL, MS. FANEEZA MOHAMED

I attended Westchester High School and earned my BA in Psychology at UCLA. I started my career as a second-grade teacher at Watts Learning Center, a charter school in South Los Angeles. I taught second grade for six years and third grade for three years. My experiences at Watts allowed me to grow as an educator and instilled in me that all children deserve access to quality education and that our families are our partners in education. I then transitioned to Wright Middle School STEAM & Gifted Magnets, where I taught sixth grade English and History for four years. For the last five years at Wright, I served as the Title 1 Coordinator, English Learner Designee, and Testing Coordinator. While at Wright, I learned many new things, including how to create and facilitate project-based learning and STEAM integration learning experiences for our scholars. My experiences at Wright also deepened my commitment to collaborating with my colleagues and building partnerships with families and community members so our scholars can be successful in their academic and socioemotional journeys.
When I am not wearing my educator hat, you can find me listening to something on Audible, binge-watching Netflix, spending time with family and friends, or working up the nerve to travel again.
I look forward to being a part of your community, sharing my experiences with you, and, most importantly, learning from and with you.
